With spring time just around the corner, the golf course maintenance staff will soon be switching back to mowing green grass. But in the mean time we have several more projects that we hope to complete prior to that green up! We are currently in the process of mowing down all of the native grass with a hopeful completion date of early February. Soon we will begin to work on some the bare spots around the course with the goal of 100% turf by summer time. Most of these areas are what is the left over damage caused by years and years of watering with high sodium lake water. Since we have been using effluent water from the city’s treatment plant, we have seen a dramatic increase in the re-growth around these areas and just hope to speed the process by modifying the soil and installing sod. As we begin this process we will be roping off most of the fairways where the work is being completed in order to keep the cart traffic off of the newly planted grass until establishment. I understand it may be slightly inconvenient, but with your cooperation, we can ensure success for this project if we can keep the cart traffic completely out of these areas. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding while we work to better your play-ing experience!
As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have concerning the golf course or even your home lawn!
